Real-time Results Sharing for Ship Pooling

Our maritime client operated a ship pooling arrangement where multiple vessel owners share revenues based on each ship's performance and contribution to the pool. Calculating and sharing these results required gathering data from multiple sources: voyage reports, fuel consumption logs, port records, and market rate feeds. The existing process was manual. Analysts would compile data into spreadsheets, run formulas, and distribute results via email, often days or even weeks after the fact. Pool participants had no way to see how their vessels were performing in real time, and disputes over calculations were common because the methodology was opaque. The delay in sharing results also slowed decision-making about vessel deployment and commercial strategy.

We designed and built a real-time results sharing platform that automatically ingests data from the client's existing operational systems (voyage management, fuel tracking, port agents) and market data feeds. The platform runs continuous pool calculations using the agreed-upon methodology, so participants can log in at any time and see up-to-date performance data for their vessels and the pool as a whole. We built transparent calculation views that show exactly how each number is derived, eliminating disputes. The system includes configurable alerts for significant changes in vessel performance or market conditions, and an export module for generating formal periodic statements. The platform is hosted on cloud infrastructure with high availability and serves users across multiple time zones.
